Banu Zaheer Heritage Foundation
Private Family Heritage Resource

Legal, Terms of Use, Privacy & Copyright

Effective date: March 22, 2026
Authorized use only. This policy applies to access and use of banu-zaheer.org, including restricted family, genealogy, photograph, document, video and heritage content.

1. Purpose and Scope

This website, banu-zaheer.org (the "Website"), is a private family heritage resource created to preserve, organize and present genealogical, historical and cultural information relating to the Banu Zaheer and Banu Siraj families and their heritage.

These Terms of Use, Privacy Notice, Copyright Notice and Disclaimer (collectively, the "Terms") govern access to and use of the Website. By accessing, registering for, signing in to, or using the Website, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to comply with these Terms.

2. Authorized Access Only

Access to non-public areas of the Website is intended only for members of the Banu Zaheer Heritage Foundation, members of the Banu Siraj Heritage Foundation, and other persons expressly authorized by the Foundation.

If you are not a member of either Foundation and have not been expressly authorized to use the Website, you must not attempt to sign in, register for access, obtain another person's credentials, bypass access controls, or otherwise enter restricted areas.

Registration does not by itself create a right of access. New registration requests may remain inactive until reviewed and approved by an authorized administrator or Security Manager.

3. Account and Credential Security

Login credentials are personal to the approved account holder. Users must not share usernames, passwords, session information, or other access credentials with any other person.

Users are responsible for taking reasonable steps to protect their credentials and for promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access or misuse to the Foundation administrator.

The Foundation may suspend, deactivate or revoke access when reasonably necessary to protect family information, the Website, other users, or the integrity of the heritage record.

4. Family Information and Privacy

The Website may contain personal and family information, including names, family relationships, dates, locations, biographies, photographs, documents and other heritage materials. Access to such information is provided for legitimate family, genealogical, historical and heritage purposes.

Users must respect the privacy and dignity of living and deceased family members. Information obtained through the Website must not be used to harass, impersonate, profile, exploit, embarrass or cause harm to any person or family.

Users must not collect, copy or compile personal or genealogical information from the Website for unrelated databases, marketing lists, data-broker activities, automated profiling, or other secondary uses without prior written permission.

5. Copyright and Intellectual Property

Except where otherwise identified, original text, biographies, editorial content, graphics, layouts, compilations, photographs, videos, documents and other original materials made available through the Website are protected by applicable copyright and other intellectual-property laws and are provided subject to these Terms.

Copyright in historical facts, names, dates, genealogical facts, public-domain materials, or third-party materials may belong to others or may not be subject to copyright protection in the same manner as original creative content. Nothing in these Terms is intended to claim ownership beyond rights lawfully held by the Foundation or the applicable rights holder.

The Website's selection, organization, presentation, original annotations and other protectable elements may themselves be protected even where individual underlying facts are not.

6. Prohibited Copying, Scraping and Redistribution

Unless expressly permitted in writing, users must not copy, reproduce, republish, redistribute, sell, license, commercially exploit, scrape, harvest, mirror, bulk-download, systematically extract, or create a competing dataset or service from protected Website content.

Ordinary viewing and limited personal reference for authorized family and heritage purposes is permitted. Any broader republication, publication, external distribution, commercial use, automated extraction, or bulk reuse requires prior written permission from the Foundation and, where applicable, any third-party rights holder.

No technical measure can prevent every screenshot, copy or external capture. The absence of a technical restriction does not constitute permission to reuse content in a manner prohibited by these Terms.

7. Photographs, Videos, Documents and Contributions

Users who provide photographs, videos, documents, stories or other materials should provide only content they are authorized to share. Contributors should identify sources, ownership or provenance where reasonably known.

Providing material to the Website does not transfer third-party rights that the contributor does not possess. The Foundation may preserve source and attribution information and may remove, restrict or correct material when ownership, privacy, accuracy or appropriateness concerns arise.

Future Chronicle, archive and media features may include additional contribution rules, attribution requirements or permissions consistent with these Terms.

8. Accuracy and Genealogical Disclaimer

The Website is a heritage and genealogical resource. Genealogical, biographical and historical information may be based on family records, oral histories, submitted materials, historical documents and ongoing research. Although reasonable efforts may be made to maintain accuracy, completeness and consistency, errors, omissions, conflicting sources or later corrections may occur.

Website content should not be treated as a substitute for original civil, legal, religious, medical, financial or governmental records. Users relying on information for legal or official purposes should independently verify it from appropriate authoritative sources.

9. Third-Party and Historical Materials

Some materials may be supplied by family members, archives, public sources or other third parties. Ownership and permitted use of those materials may be subject to separate rights, licenses or restrictions.

If you believe material on the Website infringes your rights or has been used without appropriate permission, contact the Foundation administrator with sufficient information to identify the material and the basis of your concern.

10. Acceptable Use and System Protection

Users must not attempt to defeat authentication, interfere with Website operation, probe or exploit security weaknesses, introduce malicious code, impersonate another user, access information outside their authorization, or use automated tools in a manner that burdens or compromises the Website.

Access may be logged and reviewed for security, administration, integrity and troubleshooting purposes, subject to applicable law and the Website's privacy practices.

11. Availability and Changes

The Website and its features may be changed, corrected, reorganized, restricted, suspended or discontinued as the heritage project evolves. Access privileges, account roles and branch-management authority may also be modified when necessary for security, governance or data integrity.

These Terms may be updated from time to time. The effective date shown on this page identifies the current published version. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

12. Limitation of Website Purpose

The Website is provided as a family heritage and historical resource. It is not intended to provide legal, medical, financial or professional advice, and no such advice should be inferred from its contents.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Foundation does not warrant that all content will always be complete, error-free, continuously available, or suitable for a particular external purpose.

13. Permission, Questions and Rights Concerns

Requests for permission to reproduce or republish protected material, questions about authorized access, privacy concerns, requests for corrections, and copyright or rights concerns should be directed to the Banu Zaheer Heritage Foundation administrator through the Foundation's official contact channel.

When requesting permission or reporting a concern, please identify the relevant person, page, photograph, document, video or other material as specifically as possible.
